a fake happy meal box smiles and text says "*I'm unaffiliated"

As a life long fan of good happy meal toy deigns and McDonald’s marketing...

(ask me about it sometime) I was thrilled when we got to help on a couple of campaigns for a collar with Mariah Carey.

Our team would be ideating and animating a bumper where an animated Mariah interacted with us, and then a phone, and then left.

We got to work immediately thinking about ways to make the experience whimsical and memorable.

The Queen of Christmas was revealing her menu!

We decided that Mariah would use the phone like a door, having an M on it like a wreath after closing it.

It was a strange idea to explain (don’t feel bad if you read the last sentence like 4 times)So we made an animatic.

After months of anticipation, the ad ran, and we all were filled with Holliday cheer!

About a year later, we were back for more!

This time The Kid Laroi had his own meal, and then theme of his ad was old school video games.
Naturally, when I got the news I immediately called my art director to lay out rules.

“It has to be pixel art, and we should make sprites and a sprite sheet!”

And oh boy did he deliver.

Working with one of our favorite animators, we created a series of systems. This video would feel less like an animated video and more like a video game, so why not treat it that way?
a sprite sheet, meaning arms and legs and details for how they will move.
We created flow charts (apparently with an embarrassing typo baked into the png file) and used them to communicated TKL's actions, since our boarding phase would ultimately end up being cut due to quick turn around.

We had an absolute blast lending our few seconds to TKL’s Macca’s meal,
and hope you enjoy watching it!
